Assistant Manager, Operations Accounting (Contract 6 months)

B2B Bank

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted September 30, 2017.

The Assistant Manager is responsible for the operations accounting reconciliation processes of B2B Bank and B2B Trustco businesses. The Assistant Manager leads his/her team to deliver the results based on the committed service standards. He/she must also ensure that the appropriate controls are in place and are compliant with all applicable regulations.Manages the daily, monthly, and yearly reconciliation of suspense/internal accounts of B2B Bank line of products. Reviews and approves reconciliation and journal entries. Administers the quarterly financial certification process. Responsible for managing, making recommendations and improvements to the accounting reconciliations and control processes. Effectively manages and coaches a team of accounting analysts. Administers the CDIC annual reporting process for B2B Bank. Assists in yearly audit requests. Manages the maintenance of accurate accounting and financial information. Maintains and adheres to effective accounting controls. Develops policies and procedures for the reconciliation team and coordinates with cross function departments to streamline processes. Participates in special projects and carries out any other similar or general task at the request of their superior. Keeps abreast of legislation, policies, and procedures, which relate to products and servicesPost secondary education in Business Administration or Accounting, or in a related field. Enrolled in a professional accounting designation program is a strong asset. 5-7 years of work experience in a financial services industry, with at least 2-3 years of managerial experience. Experience in GL reconciliation and CDIC reporting. Experience in leading process improvement initiatives. Solid knowledge of banking, mortgage, investment loan, self-directed, securities, and other lending products. Demonstrate strong analytical skills, ability to analyse situations, diagnose problems, and develop proactive solutions. Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines. Demonstrate leadership and management skills. Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to concisely and clearly summarize results and effectively communicate to the team. Familiarity with using large and complex financial database systems; ability to learn inquiry functions in back office processing systems such as SIBL, T24 and CPS are assets. Must possess intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel and Outlook. Experience with MS Access an asset.
