NorFalco, A Glencore Company, is one of the largest merchant marketers of Sulphuric Acid in North America, selling and distributing approximately two million tons of sulphuric acid per year. As part of Glencore, NorFalco also has unrivaled access to Glencore’s global supply and Sulphuric Acid trading network. Technical Services and Risk Management are core parts of NorFalco’s business and consistent with Glencore’s Corporate EH&S practice. Members of the Technical Service team work together to provide technical and risk management of NorFalco’s sulfuric acid distribution operations including customers, Glencore production sites, terminals, truck & rail carriers and vessel operators, tank car fleet design and NorFalco Emergency Response network. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that all NorFalco customers, service providers and Glencore plants are complying with our policies, procedures and other applicable regulations/requirements. As such, you will:

Conduct on-site assessments. Provide technical support and guidance to stakeholders. Develop and maintain positive relationships with all parties and closely work with commercial representatives to identify growth opportunities. Manage and conduct training sessions and organize seminars as required. Keep up to date with relevant safety and technical regulations and requirements at provincial/state, federal and international levels related to these activities, including OSHA, DOT, TDG, WHMIS and IMDG. Be an active part of the emergency response system, provide immediate assistance and liaise with all relevant stakeholders in order to resolve issues and incidents. Ensure accident reporting and investigation process are completed in a timely manner and as per standards.

 

 

 

 

Understand and analyze transportation and distribution risks and hazards using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Manage external (CIAC, NACD, C-TPAT) and internal (Sustainable Development, CURA) or other Health, Safety, Environment, Security verifications and audits when they occur.

What we are looking for:

A university degree in science or engineering. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and negotiate effectively. Proven technical and operation experience ideally gained in a sulphuric acid plant and as part of an emergency response team. Resourcefulness, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills along with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. The position may have sudden unplanned travel or work requirements. It is unusual, but possible, that such needs could occur during weekends or off-hours. Demonstrated ability to deliver training sessions to both small and large groups.

Travel requirements for this position are in the range of 50% and may include international destinations from time to time for durations of a week or longer. Candidate must not have any travel restrictions, either domestically or internationally.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

Working knowledge of sulphuric acid quality and chemistry. Working knowledge/experience of Responsible Care, ISO and/or NACD requirements. Working knowledge of hazardous materials transportation regulations. Certifications: ER Technician/Incident Command or Specialist, ISO auditor, EHS or API 653 Inspector would all be considered assets. Preferably bi-lingual English/Spanish or English/French
