Job Duties:

Individual ResponsibilitiesAudit information that interfaces from HR for accuracyBalance payroll to time sheets, create journal entries every pay, and reconcile payroll GL accountsEnsure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirementsAssist in the completion of the year end auditMaintain all payroll filingRespond to daily employee payroll/benefit enquiries in a timely mannerEnsure completeness and accuracy of payroll dataPrepare ROEs, calculate manual cheques, create reports, and complete month end payroll accrualRespond to external agencies such as: CRA, HRDC, Family Support and benefit providers and prepare monthly reconciliation and remittancesAssist in administration of total rewards and total compensation packages including running reports, salary, and wage comparisonsAssist in the coordination of the annual compensation and bonus cycleParticipate in the design of new compensation/incentive/ benefit programs and be responsible for the modeling and impact analysisEnrollment of associates to extended health programManagement of extended health, RRSP, tuition and fitness programsRevision and audit of monthly benefit statementsPrepare various communciations as needed

 

Required KnowledgeCompletion of a 2 year Commercial Program or 4 year University Degree in Human Resources/Compensation/Accounting or related fieldKnowledge of employment standardsMust have or currently in process of completing PCP designation or have equivalent payroll experienceRequired SkillsBilingualism (English/French)Strong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent written, oral, and listening skillsExcellent computer skills, including SAP, Excel, and WordExcellent data entry skillsAttention to accuracy and detailDemonstrates professional judgmentTeam playerRequired Experience1 to 3 years direct experience in the field of Payroll/Benefits/Compensation

Department Details:

From your first day in the Payroll department, you will be part of the team that ensures our associates get paid! You’ll be involved in processing payroll for over 1,100 hourly, salaried, and commissioned associates. What’s more, this department prepares ROE’s, manual cheques and reports to external agencies. Working as a team, you will be the main point of contact for any associate and management inquiries regarding pay. Having strong computer skills, a high degree of confidentiality, and attention to detail will be your keys to success in Payroll!
