HR Coordinator, Administration – Northern Ontario

Do you have 15+ years HR Experience in an industrial unionized environment?

Our Client is looking for a highly experienced, extremely organised HR professional to be accountable for contributing to their site’s human resources function by providing expertise in various HR fields (recruitment, compensation, benefits) to achieve a world-class performance within a safe working environment and a unified culture.

Roles and responsibilities:


  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, and champion the Health & Safety Program.
  • Support compliance with the collective agreement and sound union/management/employee relations.
  • Apply and ensure effective implementation of HR policies and procedures in compliance with the requirements of the applicable legislation (e.g., Pay Equity, Health & Safety, Labor Standards, etc.).
  • Contribute to the site’s HR team as a well-rounded professional and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Provide expertise in the matter of workforce planning, compensation, benefits, recruitment, Onboarding, Annual Contribution Review, management of unionized job evaluation within a unified culture framework.
  • Maintain the pay equity and employment program for the entire site.
  • Analyze human resources processes and provide recommendations as part of the continuous improvement process.
  • Lead the implementation of modern and efficient selection practices for unionized employees in consultation with the unions.
  • Provide regular reviews of the workforce requirements to fulfill open job vacancies.
  • Keep ahead of HR trends and regulation changes.

To be considered for this role you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Education: University degree with a specialization in Human Resources.
  • Experience: 15 years in an industrial unionized environment.
  • Have a business acumen and demonstrate a great ability to learn on the ground.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Certification: Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is an asset.
  • Language: Spoken and written English (French is an asset)
  • Weekend on-call management duties


18-month Contract position based in Northern Ontario
