Director, Capital Projects (Property Management)

Profile

Our client is one of the largest Toronto-based Property Management companies with over 22,000 units managed from coast to coast of Canada. They are continuously looking for new opportunities. Amidst growth, we are in need of hiring their Director for Capital Projects. This is a key senior leadership position in the organization in charge of development and execution of maintenance and asset management programs. The role will report directly to their VP and have six project managers as direct reports. It is based in their head office in Toronto.

The ideal candidate will have strong capital program/project management experience in the real estate/property management and/or construction industry. The candidate is strong in project management, contract management, financials and business acumen. The candidate will also come with good technical knowledge in building systems where an engineering or technologist background is an asset.

The role is a permanent, long term position with a high level of accountability and responsibility and even then there is opportunity for advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize the lifecycle of the company’s building stock
  • Development and execution of annual capital and 5-10 year capital programs
  • Development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs
  • Oversee management of service contracts
  • Work with consultants, project managers, suppliers and contractors from design to construction and closeout of projects
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with all properties


Qualifications

  • Successful experience in capital projects and facilities maintenance
  • Strong project management and contract management experience
  • Good financials, business and operations acumen
  • Technical experience and knowledge in Building Systems (HVAC Systems, Structural, building envelope, windows, elevating , security and life safety systems, interior finishing, landscaping)
  • Engineering, Technologies, building trades, construction background an asset
  • Solid leadership and team building ability
  • Excellent presentation, communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Sound and timely decision making ability
  • Passionate and committed in delivering excellent product and service
