Human Resources Generalist must perform a range of duties supporting the General Managers, the HR Manager, Area Managers and Supervisors. The duties consist of payroll, safety, policies, training, labour relations, relocation, diversity, education, recruiting and other HR programs. Provide resolutions and consulting in the above areas to ensure profitable business operations
Communicate to internal stakeholders in Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations.
Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations.
Conduct full scope investigations working closely with frontline Managers to address claims including but not limited to workplace harassment & violence, policy breach, labour relations and/or general employee relations
Act as representative for unemployment claims.
Oversee adequate orientation and training within the organization.
Conduct new hire orientation programs for staff ensuring corporate values and service standards are clearly communicated
Build and sustain beneficial relationships with employment agencies and educational institutions.
Perform interviews, screens, and recruit for job openings.
Ensure the compatibility of applicants to job positions.
Provide guidance to managers on Collective Agreement interpretation and application.
Recommend, develop and maintain human resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes.
Provide research as requested.
Participate in JHSC Meetings and maintain individual certification
Plan, organize and attend recruitment fairs as requested.
Plan and organize staff events and recreational activities.
Keep job descriptions current.
Provide general information and assistance internally and externally over the phone, electronically and in person.
Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Discipline, written and meetings, with Head Office approval.
WSIB inspections, committee, making sure that we are compliant with the Indigo rules and WSIB rules in Ontario
Provide coaching and assistance to Managers in different processes of HRM retention, performance management, discipline, absence management (disability leave, paternal leave, unpaid holiday) etc.
Provide counsel and advice to Managers on performance issues up to and including termination
Ensure all court related forms and procedures are followed including but limited to Ministry of Labour claims and ability to represent the company in court when necessary
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management required.
Minimum 5 years of work experience in HR required.
Work experience or education in employment law or other area of regulations required
Work experience in recruitment preferred.
Demonstrated work knowledge of multiple human resource areas preferred.
Data analysis skills required.
Basic research skills required.
Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations, laws and policies.
Demonstrated knowledge of change management.
Ability to develop and implement strategies.
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent typing skills, including proper spelling and grammar.
