Do you have what it takes?
Can you? o Translate from English to French a variety of written materials such as internal announcements, marketing and advertising content, producto Use Wordfast to draw on existing translations and produce new translationso Use, maintain and add new terms to the Wordfast glossaryo Analyze the form and content of source texts and determine the level of language to useo Perform on-line research in term banks, dictionaries, glossaries and Websiteso Liaise with authors, as required, to ensure consistency of message and to convey correct intent and meaningo Follow established standards with regards to quality, grammar, terminology, style and usage and ensure that translations met established standardso Maintain a log of work performedo Perform other related duties Do you have? o Enrolment in a University program specializing in Translation or French language studies.o Familiarity with the language and culture of Quebec,o English to French translation techniques and standards; revision methods, techniques and standards;o Written and oral French at a superior level; written and oral English at a superior level; reference documents, online translation tools, writing styles, technical terminology; terminological research methods, techniques and standards; and terminology banks/databases.o Very good French writing skillso Very good understanding of spoken and written Englisho Strong communication skills, both written and spokeno Excellent online research skillso Ability to effectively manage deadlines and multiple translation requestso Strong customer service skillso Professional translation experience is an asset but not requiredo Experience writing (in French) or translating (from English to French) marketing or sales material an asset but not required
From your first day in the Translation department, you will be translating texts intended for our Associates and/or our Customers in Quebec! You will have a chance to work on a variety of translations required by different departments and develop your skills through practice as well as training and coaching provided by an experienced translator. An interest in and passion for translation, an open mind and desire to learn, good communication skills, and attention to detail will be your keys to success in the position of Translation Assistant!
The compensation for this position will be an hourly rate.
This is a co-op position for 180 hours
