Data Management Controller

This is a Contract position in ON posted June 27, 2019.

This role will have primary responsibility for Canada business reporting, as well as integration of new reporting solutions.

This role will work closely with Finance, Accounting, Commercial and Operations teams to understand local requirements, and then work with IT and other resources to integrate these requirements into the broader BI landscape.

Development and production of end user reporting solutions via Tableau will also be required.

We are on a journey to change our legacy BI landscape and drive more value from our data for the business.

This role will be critical to the success of how the company uses its information going forward.

Robust understanding of databases and SQL: mapping user requirements into relational models, rapid prototype and ad-hoc development of procedures and functions, creating views for production models and users and maintaining development databases.

The ability to create and maintain and use complex queries during the development cycle of both data and reporting solutions.

Database platforms will include Microsoft SQL Server but may not be limited to SQL as technology changes.

Building and facilitating Tableau reporting: Tableau is our primary BI tool.

The ability to create and maintain extracts to support end users will be key to delivering the value of the data solutions.

Initial development of dashboards and reports will also be required to showcase the solution and lead adoption efforts.

Adept at learning new systems: the role will be required to quickly understand new systems and relate them back to a common architecture model and act as the central subject matter expert with the technical teams.

Financial and business acumen will be critical to translating financial reporting requirements into reporting solutions.

Excellent problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to apply knowledge and creativity to resolve standard and complex issues.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to work with finance, accounting and operations teams to understand, document and translate their needs and then work with the technical development teams.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from various disciplines.

Strong project management, organizational and prioritization skills with attention to detail.

Experience in the development and implementation of standards, procedures and guidelines to support operational processes.

Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.

Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment.
