Finance – Accounting Administrator – Co-Op (Jan-Apr 2019)

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted November 30, 2018.

What are the details for the Winter 2019 Co-Op work term?

  • January 7, 2019 to April 26, 2019
  • Mon-Fri (regular, full-time business hours – flexibility of hours is required at times)
  • Co-Op roles are paid semi-monthly by direct deposit
  • All of our Co-Op students are fully supervised and office-based
  • Site visits from Co-Op Advisors are welcomed!

What’s the Corporate Finance team all about?
The Corporate Finance team is dedicated to being the ”expert consultants” to the business and it’s Leadership team on all aspects of financial activity for SDI Marketing in Canada & the USA – including A/P, A/R, Payroll, Financial Analysis, Month End and Year End reporting. 

What does a Jr. Accounting Administrator do in a Co-Op role on the Corporate Finance team?
In our world, there is no ”typical day” (which is awesome!), but we guarantee you’ll be working on (and learning about) these 5 key areas on a regular basis: 

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Financial Reporting
  • Payroll Administration
  • Month End Reporting (Year End for Summer term)

What will a Co-Op student in this role learn during their 4 month work term? 

Corporate Finance processes.  Client Service.  Payroll Administration.  Employee Relations.  Month End processes/reporting.  Teamwork.  Fun.  Collaboration.  

What college/university programs are the best matches to this Co-Op role/team?

Accounting; Accounting & Payroll; Masters Accountancy; Business Administration – Accounting.  Bachelor Commerce – Accounting.

What are the top ”must haves” for Co-Op candidates interested in this role?

  • Must be a current Ontario College or University co-op student with a mandatory 4 (or 8) month work term for credit towards graduation; 
  • Excellent time management / organizational skills;
  • Attention to detail; high degree of accuracy;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken;
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of Excel, Word, PPT and Outlook; (V-Lookups; Pivot Tables)
  • Great listener, fast learner, team player who wants to contribute/learn
  • Professional work ethic, responsible, accountable and reliable
  • Able to juggle multiple projects and responsibilities
  • Great sense of humour

What are the ”nice to haves” that will help set you apart in your application?

  • Some previous accounting and corporate office experience;
  • Ping pong expertise (What can we say?  We’re slightly competitive and we love to have fun while we work!)
