Junior Accountant


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted December 4, 2017.

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for a variety of basic accounting activities relatingto the AP, AR, invoicing and reporting.     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs a variety of routine accounting functions in accordance with standard procedures.such as general accounting, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger or other related accounting area.   Processing receivables and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures.   Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.   Manage and review A/P vouchers and supporting documentation with data entry including completion of vendor set up applications.   Compiles manual Excel Invoices and work closely with the accountants to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.   Reviews transactions from subsystem to ensure data accurately passed throughthe various sub ledgers.   Assists with various monthly and quarterly management reports.   Analyzes accounting variances and prepares monthly variance analysisreports.   Prepares and loads journal entries.   Prepares Balance Sheet reconciliations.   Provides support to others on an as-needed basis.   Prepare working papers for internal and external audit.   Other dutiesmay be assigned.   QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE Bachelors degreein Accounting, Finance or related fieldOR equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two to four years of relatedexperience and/or training including2+ years professional level accounting experience, preferably 2+ years experience in general accounting  and/orentry level accountant positions. Knowledge of Payroll an asset.   CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES None.   COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent writtenand verbal communication skills. Strongorganizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.  Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingand interacteffectively with management, employees, and auditors. Must have the ability to convey financial issues to non-financial users.Ability to collect,analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concisereports.   FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of Generally AcceptedAccounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations. Requires knowledge of financialterms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis. Followsaccounting practices to ensure optimumclient satisfactionwhile guaranteeing CBRE financial interestsare protected.   REASONING ABILITY Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several optionsin situations. Requires highly analytical and quantitative skills. Ability to interpret a varietyof instructions furnished in written,oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to follow instructions.   OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES Proficient in MicrosoftOffice Suite applications (excellent Excel skills). Experience with automated accounting and financial management systems.
