Job Description Team Lead, Waste Collection Public Works
– Waste Management Do you enjoy leading, mentoring and developing staff?

Do you have working experience within the Waste Management industry along with an understanding of Waste Collection By-Laws?

This may be the opportunity for you Reporting to the Supervisor of Waste Collection, the Team Lead, Waste Collection is responsible for supervising the Region of Peel’s By-law Enforcement Officers and Customer Service Coordinators who in administer the Region’s service agreements for residential curbside waste collection to ensure contract compliance with minimal risk to the Region.

What you will do: Provide daily decision-making with respect to on-road waste collection customer service issues Ensure consistent application of Regional policies, procedures, practices and values for customer service and work health and safety Supervise, coach, motivate, mentor and provide guidance in the professional development of waste collection on-road staff Coordinate and supervise the efficient daily utilization of staff and resources to address daily waste collection issues Liaise and coordinate with Municipal, Regional and Councilor Ward staff to resolve waste collection issues Write notifications and responses to letters and other correspondence from internal and external clients Coordinate with the Region’s Customer Contact Centre to ensure consistent application of policies Create periodic reports and updates related to Waste Collection on-road staff activity and work performance Set team and individual goals in line with the section’s objectives which are measurable and which support the Region’s Roadmap to a Circular Economy Conduct check-in meetings with direct reports in accordance with the Region of Peel’s current performance management requirements Administer the Region of Peel’s Curbside Waste Collection Contracts Liaise and coordinate with the waste collection contractors’ senior route managers to ensure contract compliance and, quality on-road service, and resolve Waste Collection By-law related issues Ensure all Health & Safety training of direct reports is completed What we require: Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in Environmental Science Work experience within the Waste Management industry is considered a strong asset Previous experience supervising staff is considered a strong asset Working knowledge of Region of Peel’s Waste Collection By-laws are required Working knowledge of contract management is a strong asset Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise and correspond with internal and external clients Strong public relation, customer service and communication skills Ability to maintain a positive public image of the Region when dealing with the public Effective resolution skills regarding customer complaints in a positive and courteous manner Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently Proficient in MS Office computer applications Valid Ontario “G” license Location: 7795 Torbram Road, Brampton Ontario Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday If this leadership opportunity matches your interest and experience, please apply online About Us The Region of Peel serves more than 1.4 million residents and approximately 173,000 businesses in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.
