Reporting to the Program Manager, the Residential Project Supervisor will be responsible for providing management direction and supervision to general contractors for projects that enhance mobility for our clients in their home residence. They will ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule and in compliance with the contracts and job cost estimates. The Residential Project Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of multiple projects in Ontario and Nationwide (assigning, scheduling and monitoring general contractors, writing technical reports).
What Youll Do Here:
Responsible for the overall planning and scheduling to ensure that projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Plan, organize and direct the work in conjunction with various members of the client and project support team.
Participate in the establishment of project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of client requirements.
Monitor/control construction to ensure project is built per plan, on schedule and within budget.
Investigate potentially serious working situations and implement corrective measures.
Manage financial aspects of subcontracts and maintain good relationship with the clients and protect their interests.
Initiate and liaise with Architects / Designers / Engineers to develop plans / scope that meets the clients and stakeholders needs, and to facilitate construction activities.
Review contract plans and specifications for compliance with appropriate building codes and project requirements.
Read and interpret residential construction working drawings and equipment shop drawings, with the ability to create accurate scopes of work for Request for Quotation (RFQ) for tendering.
Monitor the overall progress of the projects and takes corrective action where necessary.
Create detailed written technical reports and scopes of work for client submittals and approvals.
Ensure that the owner is being advised of all extra work and claims, and that subcontractors are being advised of back charges.
Responsibility for budgets of designated projects for client, with scope upwards of $750K.
What You Bring to the Team:
Architectural / Engineering Technology diploma / degree from a recognized university, college or technical institution.
5-10 years in residential construction, estimating, design, finance and management.
Some knowledge of barrier-free / universal design or willingness to learn.
Extensive knowledge of Part 3, Part 9 Ontario Building Code (OBC).
Understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
Residential Homebuilding experience is an asset.
Thorough understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc.
Work with a sense of urgency by demonstrating the ability to shift priorities and resolve problems to accomplish objectives.
Effectively manage time to keep commitments to both internal and external clients.
Communication excellent ability to clearly and effectively communicate information and clarify requirements both orally and in technical writing. French language skills are an asset.
Proficient with Adobe PDF products and Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook). SAP knowledge is an asset.
50% Travel mainly across Ontario with some travel out of province.
Valid Class G Drivers License in good standing and a driver abstract, and access to a vehicle.
