We also take time to recognize each other and have fun!SUMMARY OF THE POSITIONAs the program Peer Support Worker you will share your personal experiences, knowledge, and first-hand insight as a consumer of mental health services to benefit ACTT consumers and to enhance the team perspective.

As a fully integrated team member you will provide expertise and perspective about the recovery process, symptom management, and the persistence required by consumers to enhance a team culture that recognizes and respects each consumer as an individual.

Your active involvement in peer-to-peer support will encourage consumer choice, self-determination and decision-making among those you support.

In each of these areas, services will be provided in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Thresholds Homes and Supports Inc.This is a 0.8 FTE opportunity ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree or college diploma in social sciences or health related discipline complemented by relevant experience.Willingness to use first-hand experience as a consumer to benefit the recovery of ACTT consumers.Demonstrated understanding of the boundaries of the peer support role.Demonstrated ability to work within the organization’s mission and values.Demonstrated experience working from a Recovery perspective.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.Knowledge of the self-help movement.Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.Willing to travel extensively within the catchment area.Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license, relevant insurance and use of a reliable vehicle or effectively uses transportation to travel independently in the program’s service area.Proficient computer skills, completion of daily reports and familiarization with electronic records management systems.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in leading groups an asset.Peer worker training, assist Training, MH First Aid training considered an asset.
