Data Systems Architect

Sr.

Data Systems Architect position at a large telecom in Toronto.

One of the major Canadian incumbent telcos.

You will be working under the supervision of the Director of Data and corresponding PGMs in the IT BI/EDW group to carry out day-to-day architectural duties which include the following and much more: Work on the front door architecture assessments Assist with providing SWAGs and VHLE Participate in the system health architectural audits Look for opportunities for performance improvements of the entire EDW / Teradata and legacy reporting technologies Work on cloud migration opportunities and corresponding strategy – rationalize and present the role of EDW in the modern IT eco system and the transformational path & gaps to meet the needs of the future 3-5 years roadmap and planning Have a good understand of best practices with Teradata and TM Forum data models Provide conceptual solution drafts for projects approaching delivery Support the projects that are in delivery in day-to-day need as they look for technical direction as well as architectural runway Research new technologies, prototype, showcase, POC, strategy Work with external technology vendors in RFI/RFP/discovery exploration Learn and work with team’s and enterprise architectural standards Provide some operational assistance in post implementation review and normalization of new technology projects Work with tech primes, project and program managers to ensure all projects in the program have sounds architectural direction and support Create director-level presentation decks and attend architectural review boards and gating project review council meeting to move projects through the gating process Be the solid technology pillar for the team You must possess computer science fundamentals, grasp theory, have immense practical and hands-on knowledge and experience in the enterprise IT environment.

You should rise from the data development and/or administration backgrounds and held progressively senior roles.

You must be able to be the technology leader and influence people of various levels.

Immediate technology skills required: Design, Architecture, common data models (TM Forum, Teradata Common Data model) Teradata , versions 14, UML Architectural patterns, principles, ability to see the architectural view while diving deep into the design detail Understanding and experience with big data: Hadoop stack , TeraData , ExaData, Netezza or equivalent Data security concepts: TLS/SSL, MTLS, CertBot, Vaults (e.g.

Hashicorp, CyrberArc ), data anonymization methods Presentation skills: PowerPoint, Visio, StarUml, sparx EA Technology stack: Teradata , Unica offer engine, EDW, Hadoop , Kafka, IBM DataStage, CDC, Oracle, Kafka, OpenShift/Docker, Redis Swagger/Open API, SOAP UI, Postman, Swagger Hub, RAML/YAML, .Net Docker CE, Compose, Kubernetes, OpenShift Cloud computing (e.g.

Amazon AWS, GCP, Azure, PaaS practical experience), especially Data Cloud Warehouse – e.g.

BigQuery, Looker, SnowFlake Event Driven Architecture, understanding of Event Analytics Advanced use of Oracle PL/SQL, stored procedures, functions, packages, complex oracle query features Understanding of how database optimizers work Unix, Windows server, bash, PowerShell Exposure to ML and grasp of ML trends and technologies, preferably IBM Watson Apache Spark Understanding of networking and infrastructure: vmware vs containers vs public cloud vs serverless F5, GSLB, VIP, routing, clustering, vertical and horizontal infrastructure scaling understanding concepts of MDM, ODM and ODS MUST have superb oral and written communication skills
