Electrical Engineer Technologist

This is a Full-time position in Belleville, ON posted August 15, 2019.

Job Description Alexander & Associates (A&A) is considered a leader in the design of special machines and machine integration.

Our current staff is focused on machine design projects including mechanical design, controls system design, information systems and project management.

A&A works to develop long term relationships with our customers promoting repeat business, with the overwhelming majority of our business being derived from current and past customers.

A&A is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist for it’s Belleville, Ontario office.

SUMMARY: Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Ability to read IEC and JIC drawing standards Reads and comprehends elementary diagrams, single line diagrams, & machine control flow sheets Mark up drawings for design Use and manipulate file types used to manage a design package.

Ex: JT, PDF, DXF, DWG Effectively executes appropriate turnover procedures Creates diagrams for a machine or process Writes PLC programs in the platform required Has a working knowledge of PLC and HMI applications Ability to set up and troubleshoot various communications networks, Ethernet, device net,etc Generates HMI applications following customer requirements Creates drive programs in platform required Understand drive and process loop tuning Provides commissioning support for machine and system installations and start up support Flexibility to support multiple machine start-ups and changing customer demands Identify the need to kick off Engineering/Equipment Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Authorization (ECA) processes Writes engineering instructions (EI) and PSI check list Performs Vendor Acceptance Test (VAT) Capability to troubleshoot hardware systems, components, devices, etc.

Understands safety requirements of machine design and functionality and ensures issues/questions are raised accordingly Capable of generating and implementing safety validation plans Has a working knowledge of power & control hardware & mechanical design Has a working knowledge of fluid power systems Ability to read and understand technical documentation Adheres to the A&A QA System Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Proven ability to work independently toward assigned goals and objectives Interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and/or Experience: Associates degree (A.S.) from College or University Or one to five years related experience and or training Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Drafting and/or engineering education/experience required Language Skills: Basic language skills required Mathematical Skills: Basic math and problem solving skills required Unit conversion from SI to metric and vice versa Understands kinematics and first principal physics Reasoning Ability: Individual must have ability to make independent decisions that may be of a complex nature.

Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word) Promis-E, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Elec, experienced preferred Rockwell/Allen-Bradley software preferred, Siemens experience a plus Must be capable of learning other software packages (Ex: Vision) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None.
