Electrical Engineering Lead

This is a Part-time position in Hamilton, ON posted June 14, 2021.

Electrical Engineering Lead The Role: Reporting to the Head of Engineering, The Electrical Engineering Lead, is responsible for leading all software programming, hardware design, and electrical debugging activities of Industrial Automation machinery, ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, on-budget and to the specifications outlined by the client for the Americas PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: To Lead and Manage all facets of electrical engineering functions including a small Technical Team for the manufacturing, delivery and integration of high speed packaging equipment: Schedules and manages execution of all Electrical Engineering project tasks; establishing an appropriate work breakdown structure and ensuring all engineering work is executed: Within agreed hours & costs, deadlines and within the agreed scope of work Works closely with the Project Managers to ensure the electrical engineering scope for each project is properly defined; risks are clearly identified and with mitigating actions in place.

Ensures suitable skill sets exist within the electrical engineering group to successfully execute projects on a consistent basis.

Creates a strategy for key personnel progression and retention Defines expectations, assigns accountability, provides feedback, mentoring, coaching, people development, and training as necessary.

Provides leadership and strategic direction for the standardization of designs.

Identifies and keeps track of value added, non-project related tasks to be executed during periods of low activity in order to minimize non-productive engineering time.

Identifies and implements opportunities for value engineering and standardization of the product lines.

Proactively identifies and implements corrective actions to address engineering quality and cost issues.

Keeps current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to packaging equipment system design and operation.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Electrical Engineering experience in the field of automation/industrial machinery.

High Speed Packaging Machinery experience is an additional asset.

3-5 years of experience managing/supervising teams of more than 5 people.

BSc.

or similar Technical Education in the field of Electrical Engineering.

Good working knowledge AutoCAD Electrical.

Good working knowledge of current safety standards, including Control Reliable design & PSR Legislation in Ontario.

8-10 years’ experience in the field of electrical automation/industrial machinery.

Experience in Packaging Machinery is an additional asset.

Above average command of office tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) A strong command of the English language.
