Senior Manager, Infrastructure Engineering

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted June 27, 2019.

Leading a team of Software/Systems Engineers on projects for other teams and being responsible for uptime.

Owning end-to-end availability and performance of key services and building automation to prevent problem recurrence.

Owning the application of all security principles into the environment and the continuous interaction with the Security Team.

Automating responses to all non-exceptional service conditions.

Leading by example, mentoring the team and establishing credibility through quality technical execution.

Managing on-call rotations.

Designing, writing and delivering software to improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of services.

Providing performance and utilization data to Management and Architecture for Capacity Planning.

Who are you?

You have experience managing an engineering team on projects with technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and/or storage.

You have in depth knowledge of the Linux Operating System
– preferably the distributions based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux
– including understanding of kernel tuning and OS monitoring tools.

You are familiar with software development in one or more of the languages: C, C++, Java, Go.

You are familiar with software project build automation (“make”, Maven) and Build and Integration tools (Jenkins).

You are proficient with scripting in Shell (bash, ksh) and Python.

You have an advanced understanding of virtualization environments (at least KVM and ESXi).

You are proficient in an orchestration and configuration management tool (preferably Ansible).

You are very familiar with the IaaS public clouds (preferable AWS).

You understand Infrastructure and security services like Load Balancing, Firewall, TLS encryption etc.

You have a demonstrated proficiency in production troubleshooting, including complex distributed systems.
