The Medical Devices Research Centre supports the Canadian ecosystem in the development, translation and implementation of medical device innovations.

Relying on scientific fundamentals and biomedical engineering expertise, it maintains a deep understanding of the research path from idea to market.

To achieve this, this research centre relies on an extensive collaborative network of industry, clinicians, academics and government collaborators.

The NRC is seeking a research and innovation leader to fulfil the role of Director General (DG) to lead the Medical Devices Research Centre (MDRC) and join the ranks of its senior management team.

Reporting to the Vice President, Life Sciences, the Director General will lead highly skilled technical staff, organized in multi-disciplinary teams, and supported by large-scale facilities and cutting-edge equipment.

The successful candidate will support the development of the Life Sciences strategy and direct the MDRC by developing and deploying leading-edge technology platforms with a research focus on point-of-care (POC) diagnostics and digital therapeutics along with related services.

As a well-qualified candidate, you have significant and recent leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary research, technical, business and administrative staff in participative and team-oriented environments, budget and project management, and investment decisions.

You have significant leadership experience in business strategy, organizational change management and program delivery to achieve organizational objectives.

Significant and recent leadership experience working with industry and clinical research organizations on biomedical engineering research projects is highly recognized as well as developing, translating and commercializing IP and innovation products, with demonstratable outcomes.

An advanced degree in science or engineering is required for this position located in the greater-Montreal area and bilingual language is imperative.

If no qualified candidates are identified, NRC may consider unilingual candidates who will be required to commit to achieving these levels within two years.

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC’s directives.

Compensation From $167,226 to $200,563 per annum.
