Health and safety coordinator

Magna International

This is a Full-time position in Milton, ON posted June 30, 2019.

Modatek Systems is an automotive Tier 1, Tier 2 supplier of modular engine cradle, frames and twist axle assemblies.

Our primary technologies include hydro-forming, weld assemblies, machining and E-coat paint systems.

We are a growing division of Cosma, Magna International and are conveniently located in Milton, directly off the 401 at Highway25.

Our facility is 621,000 square feet.

The Role The Health & Safety Coordinator supports the OHS team by responding to inquiries, investigating and finding solutions to reduce hazards, overseeing and delivering various health and safety programs, and acting as a resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

The incumbent provides direct client support on health and safety matters and builds relationships with the Modatek Team as a subject matter expert on resolving OHS issues in line with Magna and legislative requirements.

This is what you will focus on Works with OHS team to drive a ‘Safety Culture’ Identifies and implements opportunities for Health & Safety improvement Assists with all aspects of health and safety including the contractor safety program Supports the Occupational Health Nurse and Ergonomist with WSIB claims management and wellness programs Coordinates activities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team (ERT) Reports KPI and safety statistics Assists with action plans from the health and safety audits and safety related items on the Employee Opinion survey Reviews all accident/incident investigation reports and assists leadership in developing corrective actions Administers safety talks, participates in Team Member meetings and administers Team Member safety orientations Maintains safety board updates throughout the plant Maintains Respiratory Program (training, fit-testing, records) Promotes hearing conservation progam and helps to administer annual audiograms What we are looking for Occupational Health and Safety Degree/Diploma/Certificate from a recognized Community College program Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment Excellent computer skills (including intermediate to advanced Excel skills) Maintain First Aid and Level 2 Safety Committee Member status Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience delivering safety training and facilitating meetings.
