– VICTIM SERVICES Employment Type: Permanent Employment Term: Full Time Posting Date: May 25, 2021 Closing Date: May 25, 2022 17:00 Hours of Work: Shift Information: Days 224.00 hours per 6 week rotation Rate of Pay: $34.219 to $41.842 (5 step range) Union Name: HSAS Job Description This position will research, develop, co-ordinate and deliver community-based services for children who witness violence and their families.

This position will deliver education/awareness to clients and community at large on issues for children who witness violence.

This position will make connections with other community agencies and partner with them to provide co-facilitators and venues for services.

It will assess children and families for program suitability and refer clients to appropriate additional services as necessary.

It will maintain appropriate records, develop an evaluation plan and provide regular reports regarding the services.

Qualifications: A bachelor degree in a Human Services field with eligibility for professional registration with applicable professional association.

Licensing/Registration: Professional registration with applicable professional association Valid Saskatchewan Drivers license Additional Information Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledgeable and skilled in evidence-supported Western conventional as well as effective traditional and cultural approaches to mental health and wellness in indigenous children, youth and their families Ability to speak Cree would be an asset Experience working in a cross-cultural setting is a definite asset Knowledge of human development and family dynamics relating to family violence, trauma, addiction and poverty is essential Specific understanding of child and youth mental health issues is required A wide range of counselling skills are required in working with children, youth and their families Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies Knowledge of programming for children who witness violence is required as well as the skill to develop /evaluate these programs consistent with latest research (Best Practices) Knowledge of mental health treatment resources and the skills to make appropriate assessments and referrals A willingness to integrate child and youth mental health programming at a community level utilizing a variety of community partners A willingness to continually improve existing programs to meet the specific needs and culture of the community as new issues and trends emerge A willingness to build on the strengths of the community and the resiliency of its families Field Hours Other Northern Incentives as per HSAS Collective Agreement are prorated:
– Special Northern Leave after one (1) year of service
