Position Description
The Complex Care and Recovery Program is currently recruiting a full-time, permanent Occupational Therapist within the Therapeutic Neighbourhood (TN) program. TN is a centralized location where clients with similar treatment needs attend therapeutic programming. Offering centralized programming in addition to unit-based programming allows more opportunities for client choice in programming, greater exposure to other clients facing similar issues, and more opportunities to help clients reach their recovery and wellness goals. The successful candidate will be skilled in appropriately identifying, assessing and addressing the therapeutic and programming needs of clients. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the programming and other special projects as required and related to the Therapeutic Neighbourhood. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of Masters of Occupational Therapy students, collaborating with faculties of occupational therapy on special projects related to the development of the occupational therapy field, contributing to the development of best practices unique to the occupational therapy field and also teaching to other professionals. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. The service mandate is to provide programming to our clients during the week also including, 2-3 evenings per week and weekends on a rotating schedule. This position is located at 1025 Queen Street West.

You must be registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). You must possess a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (or a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy plus a Master’s degree in OT, Rehab Sciences or a related field), combined with a preferred three (3) years of experience working with individuals who have a serious mental illness. You must also have membership in either the Ontario Society of Occupational Therapy and/or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy and be a holder of COTO’s pre-requisite Professional Liability Insurance. You also must be eligible for adjunct/status-only appointments with university faculties associated with Occupational Therapy that has affiliation agreements with CAMH. The successful candidate will be an individual with strong recovery orientation along with experience in evidenced based interventions such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing as well as experience in facilitating groups. The successful clinician will have experience working in an interprofessional team and will bring clinical experience and familiarity in working with clients with complex mental illness, as well as with mood disorders. Knowledge and understanding of the complexities of the forensic mental health system (e.g., the Ontario Review Board) is preferred. Knowledge of interventions focused upon risk reduction, the enhancement of protective factors and that are integrated into a comprehensive risk management plan and contribute to the client’s progression through the forensic system is considered an asset. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.

Please Note: This full-time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $34.50 – $46.51 per hour
