Pharmacy Assistant – Sault Ste. Marie

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted September 6, 2018.

Our client is currently looking for an accomplished Pharmacy Assistant to fill a few shifts in Sault Ste Marie. We will depend on your expertise to deliver excellent patient care, identify and tackle drug related problems, and provide support to the pharmacy team.

As the right fit for the position, you are familiar with Nexsys, have experience working in Northern Ontario, and display incredible interpersonal skills.

Date and duration: September 10 – 28th (3 week temporary position, with potential for extension)

Working Hours: Monday through Friday (9am – 5pm) with the occasional Saturday (9am – 5pm)

Your role:

Dispense medication, prepare and transfer it to clients, ensure the pharmaceutical and therapeutic suitability of the medication
Refill stock medication supplies for assigned areas
Comply with provincial pharmaceutical regulations, adhere to provincial practice standards and guidelines
Maintain medication profiles on patients with accuracy and ensure the information is updated in the pharmacy computer system
Complete reports and documentation as required
Participate in staff and patient training functions.

Desired qualifications:

Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college is a must
Knowledge of pharmaceutical arithmetic, terminology and aseptic techniques
Nexsys proficiency
Work experience in Northern
Ontario Ability to work independently as well as in team environment
Experience operating pharmacy systems is considered an asset
Previous pharmacy experience is a nice-to-have
Experience in handling of hazardous drugs is an asset
Ability to assess and solve problems
Outstanding interpersonal, conflict resolution and teamwork skills
Good written and verbal communication skills.
