This is a Part-time position in Toronto, ON posted February 8, 2019.

The Role:

Medcan is recruiting for a Phlebotomist/Medical Tester to join our growing high-performance clinical team. We are seeking an experienced and client focused professional with a great attitude. The role is accountable for the effective delivery of Phlebotomy and Medical Testing for our clients during their Annual Health Assessment at Medcan.

The Accountabilities:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Specimen handling/sorting/processing
  • Patient Data entry
  • Labeling of specimens
  • Urinalysis preparation/aliquoting
  • Report/result delivery to Physician
  • Inventory restocking/ordering Performing phlebotomy for our clients
  • Ensure that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing
  • Identify incidents and non-conformities, participate in the development of effective corrective action plans, escalate as appropriate and drive continuous improvement in Phlebotomy delivery and services
  • Greet clients, request required information for protocols, explain the specimen collection process and ensure clients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection
  • Perform Audio Visual and Pulmonary Testing for Annual Health Assessment clients- training for this function will be provided

The Requirements:

  • Knowledge of medical lab terminology/lab technical testing
  • Prior experience as a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant
  • Graduates of Medical Lab Assistant/Technician program preferred
  • Prior experience in a medical environment, preferably in a Clinic setting
  • Superior organization and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate level in MS Office and Outlook
  • CPR certification
  • Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and follow-up on issues
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of safety, patient privacy and confidentiality

This is a part-time weekend role. The role is schedule for every Saturday (7.00 a.m.-6.00 p.m.) and for 1-2 Sunday’s per month. The role reports to the Team Lead, Laboratory.
