Workplace Health and Safety Advisor

This is a Full-time position in Hawkesbury, ON posted June 18, 2019.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Workplace Health and Safety Officer actively participate to the development, implementation, retention, revision and evaluation of programs related to occupational health and safety.

The roles and responsibilities of the Workplace Health and Safety Officer include, but are not limited to: The management of short term (STD) and long term disability (LTD) claims; The management of workplace incidents/ accidents claims with WSIB; The management of the return to work program for STD, LTD and WSIB claims (modified work, accommodations, etc.); The participation in the development, the implementation and the retention of the Musculoskeletal Disorders Prevention Program and offer safe patient handling training (theory and practice); The participation to N95 mask fit testing sessions; The support of the employee immunization program (vaccine administration
– annual influenza vaccination campaign); The assistance with the planning, organization and delivery of health and safety related training, such as the Workplace Violence Prevention Program.

REQUIREMENTS: College Diploma in nursing or a related discipline; Certification: Regulated Health Professional; Minimum of 2 years of experience in Occupational Health Services in a health care environment; Must possess knowledge of applicable laws, such as the Public Hospitals Act , the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIB); Must possess the necessary knowledge and experience with the safe handling of patients; Highly-developed communications skills in English and French (written/verbal) and interpersonal savvy; Relevant computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite;
