Reporting to the Manager, HR Services, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the HR Services Payroll team.

This includes processing of bi-weekly net payroll and developing and managing a team of Payroll Specialists to deliver a full range of payroll services to the organization.Other responsibilities include (but not limited to)Processmulti-jurisdictional salary and hourly payroll in accordance with company and government policies, terms andregulations for all Calian business and subsidiariesExecute payroll processes and perform quality checks to ensure payroll is accurate and completePost the 3rd party remittances, such as: Revenue Canada, WSIB, EHT, Revenue Quebec, garnishmentsPost and reconcile G/L entries from payroll, and interface with finance personnel to ensure postings are accurate and completeAssist with payroll system changes including updates, modifications, table changes, new wage types, absence and attendance codes as well as updates to T4, T4A, Releve, Releve-1Generate routine payroll reports and design special reports as requiredComplete all month end and year endpayroll filingsHelp lead the HR Services Payroll team to ensure efficient and effective serviceFoster engagement within the team and department by regularly providing feedback, recognition, and one on one support for successPlan, evaluate and improve the efficiencies of the business processes and procedures Work proactively with the HR Business Partners and business units to ensure that the services provided by Payroll are meeting or surpassing their expectations.Ensure that Calian’s payroll practices are compliant with all relevant CRA and Provincial government regulationsThe qualifications CPA Designation or college diploma in a field related to payroll management, or combination of professional development payroll and accounting classes5 to 10 years experience as a Payroll ManagerExperience managing a large automated SAP payroll system to net paySolid knowledge of all Canadian legislation affecting payroll and employmentProven ability to manage and guide payroll staff, and advise management regarding pay-related issuesExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsProven analytical skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in payroll improvement initiativesProven understanding of technical requirements of an automated payroll system and ability to communicate effectively with technical staff
