What You Will Do:

  • Installation, maintenance and fixing of various controls systems used on equipment used to transport Natural Gas through the Enbridge transmission system. Equipment includes: natural gas turbines, power turbines and centrifugal and axial compressor sets, as well as equipment used for power generation, dehydration, gas measurement and gas quality.

  • Daily opportunities to demonstrate innovative and critical thinking with the ability to react quickly to solve failures, and ensure equipment is safely placed back in operation.

  • Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering and Operations departments to assist in quickly solving technical problems in the field.

  • Accurately calibrate existing equipment as well as repair of electronic and pneumatic instrumentation and controls

  • Programming and resolving any issues of various PLC/HMI/DCS software packages.

  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for day-to-day work assignments.

  • Participate in daily safety tailgate talks and team communication meetings.

  • Emergency response on stations with concerns such as pressure problems, flow issues and malfunctioning equipment. This includes a 24/7 on-call rotation with after hours response to system emergencies.

  • Provide accurate and detailed documentation of all work performed, i.e. red-line drawings, complete log books, electronic maintenance system records updating and other documentation as the need arises.

  • Work with minimal direction, managing time, approach to technical problems, and work priorities within the technician group.

Who You Are:You have the following education and experience:

  • College Technologist diploma and/or University Degree in the field of Instrumentation/Controls Technology.

  • College/University graduate with 5 or more years in the area of controls and/or electrical work and/or gas measurement work.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, logic, and P&ID drawings.

  • Ability to work in a team environment, with minimal direction.

  • Good solid understanding of PLC’s with DCS exposure.

  • Will have good oral, and written communications skills
     

Desired Qualifications:

  • Licensed electrician (Industrial and / or Construction / Maintenance) would be an asset.

  • Previous experience working in the oil and gas industry would also be an asset.
     

Working Conditions:

  • The hours of work will typically be Monday to Friday with various work times available.

  • There is on-call participation required for the technician group. This is a 24/7 operation.

  • There will be some travel required (approx. 10%) for work and support at our remote valve sites and other stations as required.
