Training Specialist – Underground

What You’ll Do Reporting to the Operations Training Manager, you will be the expert in evaluating performance and conduct training to field operations personnel and other company employees involved in the delivery and servicing of product to customers.

You will be part of a dynamic team who provides leadership and training to accomplish the Operations Training Plan.

Other duties will include: Train and coach employees to safely follow the standard operating procedures in preparing and detonating explosives and operating equipment to achieve the Company standards and customer expectations.

Proactively support all safety programs to help achieve Zero Harm.

Support the implementation and use of risk assessment tools to promote personal responsibility for safety.

Ability to coach and teach individuals, small and large groups, using engaging and motivational techniques.

Comply with all applicable federal, state and region regulations, and governing agencies.

Report all incidents and hazardous conditions to appropriate supervisors.

Attend and deliver OTS, HSE, L&D and HR training and programs.

Comply with appropriate areas of the HSE Management System and DN Engineering Standards.

Actively comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices in order to ensure personal safety and the safety of employees, company assets, environment, and regulatory compliance.

Interpersonal Behavior/Capabilities and Leadership Skills: Communication, teamwork, empowerment, delegation, clarification, information, responsibility, strengthen colleague relationships, managing conflict resolution.

Demonstrated effective communication and negotiation skills.

Influence the people throughout Operations to instill professionalism and build morale.

Customer Focus: Skill in all aspects of building strong internal and external client relationships.

Broad knowledge of the mining and explosives industries.

Ability to read, write, and speak English and to communicate in writing and verbally.

Spanish and or French a plus.

Demonstrate skills in leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution and motivation of others to successfully complete goals and objectives.

Competent management skills as well as a thorough knowledge of details and relationships throughout the company.

What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in an area of responsibility or equivalent education, training, and experience.

Advanced training qualifications.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in training (i.e.

bulk truck operations, DynoMiners, surface, and underground mining operations or training in field operations).

Working knowledge of relevant Company and regulatory (FMCSA, CCOHS, MSHA, EPA, and BATFE) regulations standards.

Sound computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

May be required to perform technical evaluations and field support for bulk equipment and products.

Ability to determine basic geology and seismology.

Ability to write and edit training documents.

Competency Training Systems Thorough knowledge of Competency Standards, Technical and commercial modules, MSHA, Surface Blasting SOP, DN products, chemical sensitization, delivery equipment, procedures.

Significant knowledge and experience in competency-based training systems and firsthand experience in their implementation and auditing.

Basic understanding of Adult Learning principles and how to use them for effective knowledge transfer.
