This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted May 16, 2021.

Energy and Climate Action Manager Administrative Officer R24 This posting is to establish an eligibility list for future permanent and/or temporary positions in Victoria and Vancouver.

There is currently a temporary opportunity until Oct 28, 2022 which may be extended and which may become permanent.

This position can be performed from Victoria or Vancouver.

An opportunity to apply your exceptional leadership, organizational and prioritization skills The Real Property Division (RPD) provides a range of real estate services to government ministries and the broader public sector.

The real estate portfolio of leased and government-owned properties under RPD management is diverse and extends throughout the province.

The Corporate Sustainability Team within RPD provides strategic advice and oversight of a management framework that addresses key responsibilities pertaining to the environmental stewardship and health & safety aspects of real property services.

The overall purpose of the Energy and Climate Action Manager position is to positively affect the energy and climate action performance of RPD’s building portfolio, and to develop, contribute to, and administer activities associated with energy and greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

In fulfilling this responsibility, the broader triple bottom line agenda of government will be advanced
– including operational cost reduction, greenhouse gas emission avoidance, and client satisfaction.

As part of the Corporate Sustainability team, the Energy and Climate Action Manager has both a leadership role and tactical administrative role in planning, queuing and tracking environmental, and in particular energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction opportunities.

To accomplish this, the Energy and Climate Action Manager demonstrates both subject matter expertise in energy management, as well as the ability to compel others to act in response to the urgency of climate action.

Job Requirements: In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below: Masters designation in business, planning, sustainability, clean energy or related field OR and equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Registered Professional Engineer OR Registered Engineering Technologist OR Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers OR BCIT Sustainable Energy Management Advanced Certificate OR Certified Journeyman Electrician OR Certified Technician (HVAC, instrumentation or other relevant discipline).

3 years’ energy management experience (behavioural, occupational programming, operational, and/or infrastructure related).

Experience working with environmental management systems such as ISO 14001.

Eligibility to be designated as a LEED Accredited Professional.

Preference may be given to applicants who have climate action experience, including adaptation.
