Java Software Developer, Waterloo

This is a Contract position in North Perth, ON posted August 24, 2019.

Our client in Waterloo is looking for a Java Developer to join their growing team in Waterloo.

For this role a minimum of 2-4 years working experience as a Java software developer is required.

This is a permanent role where as a Java Developer you will work with a talented group of software developers who take on new challenging tasks and strive to achieve new goals.

You must have experience with algorithms and how to apply them to real world applications including porting algorithms from desktop platform to cloud-based platforms.

• 2-4 years working experience with Java as a software developer
• 2-4 years of experience working on production and consumer facing Java applications.

• 2-4 years experience with algorithms and knowing how to apply them to real world applications and port from desktop to cloud based platforms
• 2 years experience with object-oriented design and implementation as well as design patterns
• Familiar with Java 8 features such as stream API, lambda a bonus
• Familiar with Java Swing and Java FX
• Experiences with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related fields
• Experience using agile development techniques a bonus
• Good understanding of programming in distributed systems a bonus.

• Hands-on Java development knowledge with asynchronous server-side technologies such as Play, Vertx, Akka, Hadoop or Spark a BONUS
• Working experience with MongoDB and/or Cassandra a BONUS
• Self motivated and work well individually and or with a team
• Can communicate effectively and efficiently
