Gattuso Centre for Social Medicine 

The Gattuso Centre for Social Medicine seeks to address health inequities, working alongside community organizations, UHN clinicians, marginalized populations, persons with lived experience, patients, and all levels of policymaking to co-design, evaluate, and scale innovative data-driven programs that lead to better health. Applying a social determinants of health approach, the Social Medicine and Population Health Program aims to bridge health services and the broader social environment of UHN’s most medically and socially complex patients with the highest needs through the design, implementation, research and evaluation of new care models and initiatives to address the health implications of inequity.   

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Analyst to support the Social Medicine and Population Health program and our strategic projects. The Business Analyst will lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop and implement optimization strategies, while helping to advance high priority business development proposals and complex projects across the portfolio.  

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work with cross-functional teams, and the ability to handle complex problems and provide highly innovative and creative solutions that will achieve quality and work process improvements. 

Duties:

  • Create detailed project plans to articulate time, budget, resources, scope and risks 
  • Lead ongoing reviews of business processes and develop and implement optimization strategies  
  • Provide discussions and status reports on normal business processes in written, verbal or graphical form as required 
  • Regularly engage with key stakeholders to develop robust proposals to support strategic portfolio priorities  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven decision making 
  • Apply change management and communication strategies to multiple stakeholders and organizations, including acute and community care partners 
  • Perform assignments and special projects to support organizational objectives, often functioning across disciplines and areas of expertise 
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of various alternatives and recommend appropriate solutions which are practical and thorough, to a wide range of complex problems 
  • Demonstrate ability to oversee end-to-end low-moderately complex assignments and projects with little supervision. Working with Manager to identify and resolve barriers and challenges 
  • Demonstrate critical thinking to ensure deliverables continue to align with program goals and vision; identify impacts of ongoing changes 
  • Develop presentations, communications and documentation as required 
  • Perform data analysis and prepare detailed reports of findings; present findings to leadership teams 
  • Provide assistance and/or training to designated staff members 
  • Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of population health, health equity, and the social determinants; as well as health system design and implementation to address inequities  
  • Perform cross-functional and other responsibilities as assigned. 

 Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree required in Medical Science, Business or Health Administration, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field. Clinical background an asset. Masters degree is an asset. 
  • 3 years of senior analyst experience or 4-5 years of analyst experience working on core project management tasks (e.g. project planning, implementation, evaluation, risk assessment, benefits realization, etc.) 
  • Extensive knowledge of business systems analysis, problem recognition, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Experience developing and executing communications and adoption plans (e.g., stakeholder analysis, communication strategies and tactics, awareness campaigns, gathering user feedback) 
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression principles and practices  
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g. SQL, Excel, Tableau, PowerBI) an asset 
  • Project Management and Change Management certifications are assets 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills 
  • Excellent analytical, prioritization, and organization skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Excellent team building skills, listening, coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution skills 
  • Proficient use of computer, software, and peripheral equipment, i.e., Windows, MS Office, MS Mail/Outlook, MS Project 
  • Experience with Salesforce or CRM software an asset
