Systems engineering project manager


This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted May 3, 2019.

Job Description The Systems Engineering Project Manager will lead and manage a multidiscipline engineering team responsible for producing the design and coordination of rail systems (Track, Train control, Communication Systems, SCADA, Power Supply and Distribution and other rail sub-systems) for major rail infrastructure project.

It should also support the activities of construction, maintenance and operation activities and phases of transfer to the customer or operators.

Responsibilities : Lead and participate actively in the preparation and adherence to a schedule of deliverables in collaboration with the various sub-systems leads and the planning team.Manage the System’s design deliverables to schedule and budget.

Direct activities relating to the progress and financial reports related to the System design elements.Establish quality standards in collaboration with the different teams within SNC-Lavalin and with partners in ensuring that they meet the standards of SNC-Lavalin.Establish the required needs in terms of resources in the delivery of the plans, specifications and design details in order to meet the commitments in terms of costs, deadlines and quality standards.Ensure fluid communication between the project management team, the systems design team, construction team and the various internal and external stakeholders related to systems design elements.Participate actively in the implementation of processes such as change management.Establish a constant communication link with entrepreneurs, customer, and internal stakeholders to ensure the good operation of the project and the progress of the work.Participate actively in the negotiations when changes are made with the suppliers and/or subcontractors during awarding of subcontracts.Responsible for the delivery of all engineering products meeting quality, schedule and budget goals within the Rail Systems disciplinesResponsible for inter-disciplinary coordination of complex engineer packagesPerform all other tasks related to the post.

Qualifications 10 years of experience and more engineering including more than 5 years in a management role.Strong knowledge of Railway life cycle and strong technical knowledge in one or more Rail system.Engineering degree with PEO as an asset.Management experience in a PPP environment where a project is delivered by a consortium.Demonstrated experience in the development, implantation and management of Systems Engineering Management process.Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of multidisciplinary team of professionals.Ability to work with teams built of consultants and subcontractors.Ability to work with teams located in remote locationsResults oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities this way than to use the feedback process to identify opportunities for improvement and innovative solutions.Willingness to work in a collaborative environment and ability to develop strong and effective work teams.Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to develop, produce and deliver technical presentations for all audiences.Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently.Available for business travel or temporary relocations in North America.Experienced in developing long term, strategic relationships with client organizations Worker Type EmployeeJob Type RegularAt SNC-Lavalin, we seek to hire individuals with diverse characteristics, backgrounds and perspectives.
