Dermatology Business Manager


This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted July 10, 2018.

The Role:

Medcan is recruiting for a Business and Operations Manager for our growing and innovative Medical and Cosmetic Dermatology Practice – Refine by Medcan. This role will have a mandate to ensure operational excellence and commercial growth, as well as leading a team of exceptional talent. This role will work closely with stakeholders within the Refine by Medcan (e.g. staff, Medical Director and other physicians) as well as other functions within Medcan (e.g. finance, marketing, operations, IT). The successful candidate will be a self-starter, will have a passion for Dermatology and overall Health and Wellness, and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Here are the main accountabilities:

  • Operational Excellence, which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Establishing, communicating and monitoring operational processes
    • Partnering with key stakeholders to execute on the desired in-clinic experience
    • Optimizing resource scheduling
  • Support the Manager of Sales and Client Experience with achieving overall targets, which includes but is not limited to:
    • Partnering with marketing to execute on internal and external initiatives
    • Working with key stakeholders to establish cross-channel opportunities
    • Merchandising products and services
  • Financial management including P&L oversight, budgeting and forecasting
  • Present updates on the practice performance and initiatives to senior leaders
  • Talent management, which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Retention of staff
    • Hiring for the practice, if required
    • Conducting performance reviews
  • Vendor relationships and contract negotiations
  • Support other corporate initiatives related to Dermatology, as required


  • Minimum 3 – 5 years relevant experience in Dermatology or Plastics practice
  • Bachelor or Masters degree – a business focus is an asset
  • Experience managing a team
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen in the Health and Wellness industry desirable

This is a full-time role scheduled primarily during business hours Monday through Friday. The role reports to a member of the Medcan Executive team, and will be member of the product leadership team as well.
