Logistics Coordinator


This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted June 26, 2019.

Summary Array is looking for an individual in the Logistics Coordinator role who can take control of opportunities for improvement in a fast paced environment, verifies and keeps records of outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepares shipment documents including packing slips, invoices & bills of lading.

Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Schedules transportation requirements including shipment notification, tracking and proof of delivery Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.

Packages product samples and custom sized orders for safe handling when required.

Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

Documents and prepares all freight and handling claims.

Updates and maintains shipping log where required Reviews with department Director, carrier selection and performance Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and correct carrier is used.

Offers expertise and troubleshooting for logistics concerns Assists Director with reporting of performance measurements (volumes, costs and accuracy) Collaborates with Asia Import team to facilitate imports Offers suggestions for improving accuracy and cost.

Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

Maintains database of all imports and publishes ETA status.

Negotiates pricing with forwarders, brokers, and trucking companies.

Accountable to follow all policies and procedures defined in the company quality system.

Supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Reports to work on time, and follows the call in procedure.

Reports any Health and Safety issues to department manager immediately.

Daily routine housekeeping of work area.

Conducts all work duties as per the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, the health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and policies of Array Canada.

Performs any other reasonable assignments given by the Department Management or his/her designates.

Qualification, Education and/or Experience A minimum High School Diploma or related education.

Minimum 2 years of hands on experience in arranging domestic and international shipments, LTL, T/L, and courier distributions; experienced in negotiating freight rates.

Have successfully completed or pursuing CITT certification (Canadian Institute of Transportation & Traffic) or P.

Log designation (Professional Logistics).

Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees in the organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to calculate cube factor for shipping.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with computers; MS Explorer Internet software; shipping systems software (e.g.

Industrios Inventory software), Inventory & Order Processing Software (e.g.

Industrios Order processing systems), possess intermediate to advanced MS Excel Spreadsheet software skills and MS Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CITT certification or P.Log designation.

HazMat Certification Other Skills and Abilities Must have working knowledge of customs claims and NAFTA.

Must understand logistics concepts and strategies to ensure a reliable and effective solution in a timely manner.

Able to multi-task with a strong sense of urgency and work in a fast paced environment Good planning, time-management, organizational and follow-through skills.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization Possess initiative and self-motivation Able to work with minimum supervision Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment an asset.
