Heavy Duty Mechanic

This is a Full-time position in Greater Sudbury, ON posted February 3, 2020.

Description: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mobile Equipment Mechanic is part of the Maintenance department and collaborates with other departments of the mine.

She/He will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting custumer culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities: Responsible for preventive and predictive maintenance in addition to minor and major mechanical repairs to all mobile mining equipment;This position will work directly with the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Planners and other operations personnel;Maintain a clean and safe work environment;Report all accidents to supervisor;Any other duties required by the Supervisor.

Qualifications: Must possess a mechanic diploma;Must have three years’ experience in mining related heavy equipment maintenance with a working knowledge of manuals, schematics and diagnostic tools preferred;Should have a thorough understanding of A/C, hydraulic, and electrical system 12/24 volts troubleshooting; Experience on Maclean Bolter MEM975, Sandvik D1421, DL4321, DS4221, Cubex 6200, Jumbo Drill DD4221, Scoop LH514, IH517, R13006 CAT Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, with an ability to motivate and work in a team environment;Knowledge of diagnostic software tools preferred, preference given to those individuals possessing knowledge regarding the following equipment: Caterpillar, Sandvik, Mercedes motors; Underground certification or equivalent such as Mining Modules and Common Core is an asset for the position; Possess an adequate physical condition; Possess a good ethic work, a positive attitude and ability to work in Team; Experience working in a multicultural environment;Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
