Join Minto to find out how you can be a part of it all! The Opportunity: While reporting to the Manager of GST/HST, this role will be also taking direction from the Manager of property tax, and time will be split equally between the property and GST/HST tax functions. As a HST and Property Tax Technician, you will be responsible for the helping ensure compliance with the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax (GST/HST) and Property Tax for all Minto business units across Canada.

What youll be responsible for day to day: GST/HSTTimely and accurate preparation and filing of GST/HST tax returns and payments monthly, including the filing of necessary rebate applications and electionsReconcile GST/HST accounts with amounts remitted and outstandingTrack returns filedPrepare cheque requisitions and GST/HST reporting checklistsReview and submit GST/HST new housing rebate applicationsReconcile GST/HST rebate accountsAssist in providing information for GST/HST audits and reviews conducted by tax authoritiesCommunicate any required information to the Canada Revenue Agency relating to GST/HST reporting and remittancesMaintain GST/HST process documentationOpen and distribute all mail received from tax authoritiesRecords management and filing Property TaxData entry and processing for timely payment of a large volume of property tax billsMaintain property tax information system, including entry of the property tax bill and assessed value information and setup of new roll numbersPrepare property tax adjustments for inclusion in the Statement of Adjustments for each new home saleRespond to internal requests for property tax information by extracting and validating information from property tax information systemMaintain property tax process documentationRecords management and filing Minimum Qualifications: College Diploma in a business related field (e.g.

commerce, accounting, business administration) or proven experience in an accounting environment, or university degree in any discipline.Minimum of 2 years of recent accounting/bookkeeping Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skillsProficient in Excel, Word and PowerpointStrong analytical and problem solving skillsStrong attention to detail, with the ability to complete work within established timelinesHigh degree of integrity including ability to successfully deal with sensitive or confidential informationAbility to work independentlyExperience with SAP will be considered an asset Keys to succeeding in the role: Positive attitude towards workExcellent organization skills and ability to prioritize workAbility to handle high volumes of transactionsThe ability to learn on the fly; is comfortable with new ideas and methodsAble to meet hard deadlines on a monthly basis Minto is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment.
