Maintenance Mechanic- injection molding

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted October 1, 2018.

Maintenance Technician for Injection moulding Operations

Purpose of Position:

To ensure that the plant and production equipment function at a high level of efficiency with minimum downtime

Assist Management and peers in establishing and implementing Preventative Maintenance Schedule for all molding machines and auxiliary equipment as per manufacturer’s recommendations.

Duties & Responsibilities would include but not be limited to:

Perform preventative maintenance on all injection molding machines, compressors and auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to assembly cells, sonic welders, grinders, robots, dryers, chillers, thermolators etc.

Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and Malfunctions.

Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures, heaters, relays and other electrical components.

Perform basic mechanical/electrical maintenance on equipment to maintain machinery in good working condition.

Understand, maintain and follow the working procedures for machine shop.

Monitor spare parts inventory for injection molding machines and secondary equipment such as fuses, filters and heater bands and replinish as needed.

Operate equipment in a safety conscious manner. This equipment may include counterbalanced trucks (forklift); Overhead cranes, powered and manual pallet trucks. Assist in upholding all health and safety regulations including use of protective eye-wear, ear plugs, gloves, etc.

Education, Qualifications, and Skills required for this position:


Minimum of 5 years, hands on experience (license not required), working on Injection molding presses and all supporting auxiliary equipment.

Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical controls

Working knowledge of PLC’s is also an asset.

Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics.
