Bookkeeper, Law Firm (Part-time)


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted April 15, 2019.

Growing boutique law firm is seeking an experienced bookkeeper to work on an on-going part-time basis (Flexible hours).

Some work can be done from home.

Must be available to work on-site, as needed, at our head office in Toronto, Ontario.

Virtual support applications will not be considered Location: Spadina between Queen and Dundas.

Immediate need will require many hours per week and then continue part-time on-going engagement approximately 5-10 hours per week.

Immediate need and deliverable requires getting caught up and completing incomplete 2018 calendar year bookkeeping, with monthly reconciliations of firm’s trust account.

Deadline for this is May 24, 2019.

Responsibilities: Bookkeeping must be completed in accordance with the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) guidelines and regulations re maintaining financial records.

With this in mind and in accordance with such LSO regulations and guidelines, the scope of work will in part require production of the following bookkeeping reports and records on a monthly basis:
• General Receipts Journal
• General Disbursements Journal
• Fees Book or Chronological Billings File
• Trust Receipts Journal
• Trust Disbursements Journal
• Client Trust Ledger In addition to the bookkeeping required for client matters, scope of duties will also entail attending to the regular bookkeeping pertaining to the firm’s operating financials.

Qualifications: 5 years bookkeeping experience Experience within or for an Ontario law firm and familiarity with Law Society of Ontario (LSO) bookkeeping regulations and guidelines an asset
