This is a Full-time position in Atikokan, ON posted June 28, 2019.

Chief Executive Officer The Town of Atikokan is located in the heart of beautiful Northwestern Ontario.

Dubbed as “The Canoeing Capital of Canada”, Atikokan is surrounded by thousands of lakes and rivers and is the gateway to the world renowned Quetico Provincial Park.

We have a thriving population of 2,596 residents in a safe, healthy community.

The Atikokan General Hospital is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to assume responsibility for overall strategic and operational planning of the Hospital.

The Chief Executive Officer is accountable to the Board of Directors for the strategic direction of the Hospital and leadership of all staff.

As Chief Executive Officer, you will provide leadership and effectively engage and establish strong working relationships with the employees, medical staff, partner organizations, and the community of Atikokan.

The incumbent will proactively lead the organization in a challenging and regulated environment to meet the short and long term healthcare needs of the community.

As Chief Executive Officer, you will have a broad understanding of healthcare and human resources issues.

You will have considerable knowledge of small, rural, and remote community hospitals, which will allow you to manage both the operational realities and community expectations with little support.

You will work with a small, but efficient Leadership Team to ensure the delivery of quality patient care throughout the Hospital by focusing on service orientation, organizational excellence, and continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for implementing a positive cultural shift in a rapidly changing hospital environment.

You are confident to make tough decisions, yet supportive of distributed decision-making while remaining open and approachable to staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum: five years leadership experience in a community healthcare facility of similar size or comparable experience is preferred.

An advanced degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Management, or Business Administration Management and leadership experience is essential Must understand and be able to manage all facets of hospital operations Experience balancing funding sources and needed service provisions with the ability to build strong business cases Superior communication skills to successfully represent the Hospital to patients & families, the MOHLTC, Northwest LHIN, OHA, medical staff, unions, media, and the community Previous experience in managing major change Experience working with legislation and in a regulated environment A genuine interest in living and working in the wonderful community of Atikokan, ON Eligible candidates may submit their cover letter and resume to learningj@aghospital.on.ca The deadline to apply is July 18, 2019.
