Security assessment & authorization specialist


This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted February 22, 2020.

Job Description:Role Overview CDW is seeking for a driven and solution-oriented Security Assessment & Authorization Specialist to join our Ottawa Cyber team.

The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise in cyber security and will work closely with our customers and fellow coworkers in the execution of our security programs.

The Security Assessment & Authorization Specialist will have experience in planning, analyzing, documenting, and reporting activities associated with the system security assessment process.

Responsibilities * Conducts security testing and evaluation (ST&E) of devices, systems, controls, and policies relative to stipulated organizational requirements or standards.

* Ensures technically and scientifically defensible rigor in support of security testing software, hardware or systems.

* Reports on the security systems achievement of control objectives and recommends corrective action to address deficiencies.

* Advises on work domain relevant cyber-related security requirements.

* In addition, you will collaborate with the Cyber Security Team on any system security requirement adjustments and work with the other team members to integrate the system security requirements within their specialty.

Qualifications Qualifications * Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Engineering or related technical/computer science/electronics/telecommunications/information technology with proof of continuous development of Cyber Security related professional knowledge and/or skills.

Other Required Qualifications * Experience with the security assessment processes and hold a current Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.

* 5 or more years’ experience performing comprehensive security assessments using the IT risk management framework as outlined by Canadian Centre for Cyber Security.

* Experience analyzing information assurance systems in unclassified and classified environments for compliance * Experience in planning, analyzing, documenting, and reporting activities associated with the system security accreditation and authorization (SA&A) process * Must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

* High degree of initiative and work habits that accomplish functional and business goals with autonomy.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance.

Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Preferred Qualifications * Industry certification such as CEH, OSCP, GSEC, Security+, Network+, etc., or other related networking or security certifications would be viewed as an asset * Knowledge and experience with current government and industry standards such as CSE ITS Guidance, DISA STIGs, ITSG-33, ITSG-22, NIST SP-800 suite, ISO/IEC and other related standards is an asset.
