Senior Legal Counsel


This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted October 7, 2021.

In the Senior Legal Counsel – Employment Law position, you would be an integral part of the Employment Law Team and primarily responsible for all Canada-related inquiries to support Infosys’s growing Canadian presence.

This includes providing daily counsel to human resources and business units on substantive legal areas including policies and procedures, recruiting, hiring, employee relations, investigation, discipline and terminations, leave of absence management, and compliance and benefits.

In addition to Canada support, you would also team with internal and external counsel to support employment legal needs outside of Canada and throughout the Americas in the USA and Latin America.

You would also manage external counsel in litigation/administrative agency matters and miscellaneous projects.

Other areas of responsibility could include advising on employment-related provisions in contracts and acquisitions and joining the Americas Employment Law Team in training initiatives.

This position reports to the Head of Americas Employment Law.

Location for this position can be Toronto, Ontario or Calgary, Alberta.

Position will have remote-working options within the listed locations as an ongoing benefit of the position, even after the current pandemic.

Law degree from a recognized university and a member in good standing with applicable Law Society.

Minimum 5 years overall employment law experience in a law firm and/or in-house position with at least 3 years of employment law experience in a law firm Strong knowledge of employment law and practices in various provinces across Canada Experience with employment-related litigation.

Demonstrated effective written communication skills.

Desire to train and coach stakeholders at every opportunity in day-to-day interactions.

Commitment to teamwork and a collaborative work environment.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively within a geographically distributed team and fast-paced business environment.

Demonstrated ability to think and decide quickly, and to communicate legal issues and solutions clearly and concisely.

Preferred: Some exposure to employment law and practices in non-Canadian jurisdictions in the Americas.

Working knowledge or better of French, Spanish, or Portuguese to assist in supporting Quebec and Latin America (but not required).
