This position reports to the Corporate Strategy Development team in our Office of the SVP, People and Strategy sector.

This sector has the focus, the people and the voice to achieve our aspiration.

About the role The Corporate Strategy Development team at CMHC provides strategic planning, performance measurement, project management, change management, governance, and strategy development and execution leadership to internal stakeholders.

In this Senior Specialist role, you will support strategic corporate and stakeholder objectives, leading large and complex short and long-term initiatives to support the overall corporate strategy.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated experience solving problems, collaborating & coordinating, bringing a strategic lens to their work and successfully leading a diverse range of projects/initiatives.

What you will need
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Change Management, Organizational Behaviors, Human Resources or a relevant combination of education and experience.

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience with increasing responsibility.

• Very strong oral and written communication skills.

• Extensive experience in planning, organizing, executing and managing projects/initiatives end to end.

• Extensive working knowledge of MS Office suite: in particular, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.

• Strong reporting and analysis experience (Excel and Power BI)
• Extensive experience and knowledge of strategic corporate planning and development, and performance measurement (e.g., PuMP™) including related methodologies, standards, and documentation.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop successful relationships with stakeholders, applying tact and diplomacy in influencing and persuading stakeholders.

• Strong leadership, coordination, and collaboration skills.

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to perform gap analysis and provide different perspectives on data and complex problems.

• Strong strategic thinker and the ability to translate vision and goals into an overall approach that may affect many parts of CMHC or other stakeholders, specific results and tactical implementation plans.

Ability to operate in a thinking environment that is not fully structured and has a great deal of ambiguity.

• Billingualism (English and French) What you will be doing Corporate Strategy
• Provide senior-level subject matter expertise on strategic planning, performance measurement, and governance.

• Support annual Corporate Plan process and quarterly Corporate Performance Reporting process.

• Manage data integrity and reporting.

Play the challenge function role on whether the data provided by internal clients is substantive, relevant and complete.

Ensure the alignment between all the datasets coming from divisions, sectors, and compare against historical reports to avoid discrepancies.

• Lead the development of presentations, reports, speaking notes, briefing notes and other key documentation for management, governance committees, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.

Provide a different perspective on data to identify gaps and enable decision-making.

• Lead organizational awareness of strategy alignment, strategy execution, and performance measurement.

Provide advisory support to various stakeholders.

• Lead organizational capability through the development of tools and resources that support strategic alignment and execution, and performance measurement.

• Monitor emerging trends in management and organizational effectiveness theories, assess applicability to CMHC and make recommendations.

Advises on the practices or theories and tools that are being used in the market by other companies or academia to help advance the organization along the maturity scale from the strategy perspective.

May attend the conferences and committees discussing the emerging trends and latest thinking concerning management and organizational effectiveness theories.

• Provide support and analysis on aligning process, resource planning and sector strategies with corporate strategy.

Strategic Corporate Planning
• Lead/support the enterprise-wide strategic planning and performance measurement process, including monitoring and analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

• Define efficiencies to processes and procedures relative to the internal functioning of the team as well as the advisory and guiding function of the team as the role supports work related to projects or strategy planning which result in an impact on current processes and procedures.

Advice and Guidance
• Provide senior-level subject matter expertise on strategic planning and performance measurement in support of strategic objectives.

• Deepen business knowledge through research, discussion and analysis, and ensure proper transfer of knowledge in the areas of strategy development and execution.

• Build relationships, gain trust as a business partner with internal stakeholders to effectively influence and collaborate to deliver impactful results.

• Reach out across different organizational sectors and divisions to strategy leads and project sponsors, managers of teams and directors, vice presidents and senior vice presidents depending on the project/initiative led to ensure that Corporate Strategy Development is getting the buy-in and the necessary support from that business to execute on the project requirements.
