This is a Full-time position in Kitchener, ON posted April 23, 2021.

SBM is currently seeking a Residential Design Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) to join the Structural Division (Small Buildings) in our Kitchener office.

The successful candidate will work under the Division Manager and will be responsible for assisting with structural design of residential projects, site reviews of construction, and site investigations of existing structures.Key Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Project Engineer:Structural design and evaluation of building components, including wood, concrete, steel, and masonryEnsure construction plans and specifications meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulationsSite investigation and evaluation of existing building structures and write field reports.Review shop drawingsPreparation of drawings or drafting as requiredWork within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completionCoordination and communicate with other engineers, architects, contractors, designers and homeownersOther tasks as assigned by Division Manager or Project LeadSkills/ Qualifications:Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited UniversityRegistered or eligible for registration as an EIT with the Professional Engineers of Ontario1 3 years of experience in structural engineering within Canada; experience in building design will be considered an assetExperience with Part 9 of the Ontario Building Code and engineering standardsStrong time management and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlinesFast learner and willingness to learnAbility to work both independently with minimal direction and in teamsAccess to reliable transportation for travelStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentProficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and AutoCAD suiteCompensation:This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and annual performance bonus.
