Hello chefs.

I’m a Torontonian opening a wine, beer and snack bar in Haute-Savoie, France. At the foot of the French Alps and with my toes in Lake Geneva, I’m trying to bring a typical Toronto Snack Bar style to a town that’s never seen one before (and will love it).

A little about me : I’ve worked in restaurants for fifteen years, have a Sommelier degree from Burgundy, France, and spent the last three years managing two luxury wine and oyster bars in Geneva. Now I’m opening my own Canadian-style bar and I’m looking for a chef to be my go-to, my partner in crime, my creator and my executor. It’s just you and me, chef, against this beautiful region.

The menu will be a short list of complex street food that is typical Toronto (416 Snack Bar, Pinkerton’s) : mini burgers, mini tacos, bao bun- created professionally and from local ingredients. Lots and lots of room for chef creations.

I need someone who can handle a small kitchen by themselves – meaning you’re ordering and preparing all of the food, creating menu items with me, and also working in an open kitchen in front of everyone. If you don’t speak French, I’ll take the time to help you, and you’ll learn fast.

I also require a Visa or a European passport, however, because I can’t count on something that administratively might not work out.

Salary: $3000/mo

Benefits: The town is a 20 minute drive from the Alps, so if you love skiing or hiking, this place is a dream. Five minute walk to Lake Geneva, the biggest lake in Europe and one of the cleanest lakes in the world. Summer is at the beach, wake boarding, windsurfing... Population 36 000, it's not a CRAZY town but has just enough activity and hipsters for this bar to really go off. Geneva is a short drive away for more activity, theatre, etc. The schedule is GREAT - Wednesday to Saturday nights from 5pm to 2am, and Sunday brunch. Meaning you've got Sunday night to Wednesday afternoon off to go visit Gruyere and Yvoire and Chamonix.
