Senior Scrum Master


This is a Contract position in London, ON posted May 12, 2021.

What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Scrum Master, you enable an RBC scrum team to run a medium-to-complex agile development process that seamlessly aligns with business and technical needs.

You will play a key role within an Agile delivery team as it removes any impediments that obstruct a team’s pursuit of its sprint goals and ultimately deliver a product that generates business benefits for one or several RBC lines of business.

What will you do?

Facilitate medium to-high complexity Agile initiatives from initiation through release, providing oversight to ensure alignment with RBC Agile/Scrum practices, including but not limited to, project kick-off, sprint, release and deployment planning Accountable alongside the scrum team for the achievement of release objectives and results that meet LOB stakeholders’ needs and expectations Manage risks to delivery Navigate and identify shared IT services required by the team in the delivery of its objectives Facilitate discussion leading to collective decision making, goal setting and conflict resolution within the team Remove impediments to delivery success through the proactive management of external dependencies, medium to-high complexity team problem-solving and the development of new solutions or approaches to ongoing challenges; has the authority to execute against new approaches and escalate issues through business and/or IT channels where necessary Accountable for creating and maintaining the appropriate vehicles for open communication within the scrum team (e.g.

tracker boards) to create a trusting and safe team environment Facilitate and engage in business analysis, user experience and technical conversations across platforms and multiple levels of influence Communicate cross functionally, ensuring transparency of progress and outcomes; Report team progress and accomplishment up and across; Facilitate status updates, product demos and retrospectives What do you need to succeed?

Must-have 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master – where Scrum principles, practices and theory were diligently applied 5 years of experience in software development and/or project management and other relevant professional experience 2 years of working on medium to-high complexity initiatives Project / Program delivery in Agile and/or Waterfall environment (medium to-large scale initiatives) using influence to facilitate to outcomes Practical experience with any of the key disciplines required in agile delivery – such as software development or business (system) analysis; Experience working in a dependent multi agile team environment Nice-to-have Ability to apply RBC Agile Management Framework and well documented Agile techniques (User Stories, Burndown techniques, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous testing, etc.); Previous experience in the payments domain (e.g.

Interac e-Transfer, SWIFT/wires) Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience Certified Scrum Master / Agile Practitioner What’s in it for you?
