The Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defense of the waters of Lake Ontario. We are one of Canada’s premier sailing and social clubs, with an emphasis on family participation, the development of our junior sailors, and a Corinthian attitude towards excellence in sailing. The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto. With over 4700 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.

The Pro Shop Sales Clerk is responsible for providing sales and customer service to Members and Guests relating to apparel and sports equipment. This individual will have good customer service skills and be able to assist the Pro Shop Supervisor as directed.

Job Duties

  • Answer incoming calls to the Pro Shop
  • Assist with stocking of merchandise and help do monthly inventory counts
  • Perform administrative work as necessary
  • Process customer returns and exchanges
  • Perform opening and closing duties of Pro Shop
  • Help with court bookings and sign out sports equipment when needed
  • Summer season only: pump fuel for Guests and Member boats while working in the Island shop.
  • Sign out bikes, stand up paddle boards, and canoes

  • Previous customer service experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of sailing is not mandatory, but considered an asset

Health and Safety

  • Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulation and follow in accordance to the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Report all accidents, illnesses, or ‘near miss” incidents to your direct reporting Manager immediately
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Be able to lift up to 15 lbs.

Hours of Work

  • Permanent part time position
  • Able to work shifts (day/afternoon/evening)
  • Able to work infrequent weekend shifts
