Your Role Reporting to the Team Leader, this Claims Representative is accountable for adjusting files to ensure investigation, evaluation and the settlement of moderate to complex first party Personal and Commercial claims while deployed anywhere in Canada.

In our team, we need to be flexible and agile, as these events can occur with little notice.

The Claims Representative also reviews and interprets policy wordings regulations and legislation to determine coverage.

The Claims Representative will also supplement the National Appraisal team.

This includes large loss quantifications, reinspection’s or exceptions.

They will also be called upon to perform CAT clean up duties or supplement the national adjusting ranks to support absences.

As a seasoned and experienced claims representative, they will provide guidance, on the job training, technical direction, coaching and mentoring to other team members.

Important aspects of this position: Travel to catastrophe sites is required, with little notice.

Supporting evacuation centers is also required.

Depending the event and response required, the typical day on-site is 7AM to 7PM 6 or 7 days per week depending on the event and the response required.

Your Responsibilities Deploy approved Economical loss cost control programs and technology to investigate, negotiate and settle moderate to complex personal and commercial claims as assigned.

Adjust files to ensure that full investigation of loss site has occurred in person or through use of Economical quantification programs.

Develop and records information pertaining to the claim and or coverage, documenting notes in the appropriate system(s) and driving the claim towards final disposition.

Reviews and interprets policy wordings, acts, regulations, legislation and contracts to assess impact on coverage.

Reviews claim evidence, statements, photos, and investigative documentation to assist in identifying subrogation opportunities or identifying potential third-party liability exposure.

Identifies and processes all salvage.

Retains and directs appropriate vendors & experts within corporate guidelines.

Provide oversight and quality assurance on outsourced quantification assignments.

Quantifies large loss Complex Commercial Lines structural damage claims as a member of the Quantification Team in support of the Structural Damage Quantification Protocol nationally.

Write denial letters, Reservations of Rights and other complex correspondence when required and maintains an effective diary system to ensure proactive claim file management and disposition.

Prepare loss cost estimates while in the field including preparing scope of repair for moderate to complex total CAT losses.

Your Skills and Experience University degree or a college diploma (specified field) or the CIP designation and a minimum of 2 years as a loss adjuster or appraiser.

Subject matter expertise on building code and by-law issues as they relate to loss cost quantifications pricing and protocols.

Demonstrated ability to complete scopes of repair for up to moderately complex losses Understanding of Provincial and National Building Codes along with a solid understanding of residential and commercial construction terminology, techniques and best practices.

Highly proficient with estimating software platforms including Xactware.

Experience with and ability to read, understand blueprints and CADD drawings Proficient in MS Word and Excel Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work autonomously Agile and adaptable, ready to act at a moment’s notice At Economical, we all work together to come up with big ideas
