We are looking for a Benefits Administrator to join the team at our Head Office located in Mississauga, ON!

We are seeking a highly driven and results-oriented Benefits Administrator to support and assist employees, managers, and our benefit providers with the administration of company benefits. The Benefits Administrator will be responsible for establishing effective employee communications strategies and plans to educate and inform employees about benefits/RRSPs/EAP services and additional programs available. Located at our Head Office, this position will report to Manager, Payroll & Benefits.

What You’ll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communication and enrolment of Cooper benefits and RRSPs to new hires.
  • Administration of existing benefits (Sunlife, RBC, Lifeworks, Maple Virtual Care).
  • Process group benefit plan enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Assist payroll department by providing relevant employee information (e.g., leaves of absence, sick days, return to work schedule).
  • Counsel employees and managers, on available benefit options. Builds an understanding of employee situations to ensure employees are making informed decisions (including employees retiring, terminating employees, employees going on leave, etc.).
  • Follows-up with Sunlife and RBC case management for STD and LTD claims (approved and rejected claims).
  • Additional follow-up with employees who have gone on leave but have not applied for STD and LTD.
  • Assist in annual Sunlife benefit renewal.
  • Actively participates in escalated employee benefits/RRSP issues; ensuring all employee requests and inquiries are resolved.
  • Acts as a mediator between benefits providers and employees as required.
  • Serves as the internal expert on unique and/or complex benefit/pension issues, policies and procedures that impact employee leaves, terminations, retirements, death, new hires, etc.
  • Serves as a back-up to HRIS Analyst for onboarding.

What You’ll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in benefit communication and processing or related field.
  • An ability to respond positively under pressure and with a sense of urgency and sensitivity.
  • Ability to work well in structured and unstructured environments, and with changing and competing priorities and timelines.
  • Possession of excellent consultative, organization, customer service, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups and senior-level Management.
  • CEBS certification is an asset.
  • Bilingual (French) is an asset.
