COMMUNITY OT IN THE FIELD OF DRIVER ASSESSMENT AND REHAB – GTA

As a full-time Occupational Therapist within our CBI Health Centre, you will work in various CBI locations throughout the GTA as well as in the community, assessing clients’ physical, cognitive and visual abilities related to driving and providing recommendations to assist clients’ with return to pre-accident, pre-injury levels of driving when able.  

 

PRIMARY DUTIES

As an Occupational Therapist working in the field of Driver Rehabilitation, you will:

  • Evaluate clients’ cognitive, visual and physical fitness to drive;·        
  • Determine and implement treatment plans;
  • Evaluate vehicle adaptation needs;
  • Write Reports;·        
  • Track post-attribution of recommended adaptations and driving with these adaptations;
  • Coordinate the delivery/installation vehicle adaptations;
  • Network with internal and external stakeholders to promote new and existing programs;
  • Perform regular, timely charting, reporting and communication.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To take on the role of Community Occupational Therapist in the field of driving rehabilitation, you must:

  • Have a university degree in occupational therapy·        
  • Bring at least 1+ years of clinic experience (3+ preferred)·        
  • Have experience in the field of driving and / or have completed the certificate of McGill University “Graduate Certificate in Driving Rehabilitation·        
  • Be registered as a member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario·        
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment·        
  • Be dedicated to providing the highest quality of client care·        
  • Bring strong clinical skills in one or more of the following: orthopaedic injuries, cognitive impairment,  anxiety (driver and passenger), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)·        
  • Have strong skills in critical thinking, decision-making and analysis·        
  • Have experience in the private sector, particularly with auto sector legislation, and WSIB·        
  • Have excellent time management and organizational skills and be able to work independently·        
  • Be comfortable working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team·        
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills·        
  • Be empathetic with an effective ability to build rapport with patients·        
  • Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel·        
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.·        
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team, and to facilitate our clients’ needs by exceeding their goals.
