Transportation Analyst – East region

Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is provide the tools, analysis and reports necessary to assist the Manager Consolidation and Logistics with a low cost transportation network.

The Transportation Analyst will contribute by forecasting transport volumes, finding opportunities to increase load productivity and overseeing the creation of a carrier scorecard process.

Position Responsibilities: Utilize quantitative skills to analyze, validate, manipulate and manage large amounts of data specific for the purposes of problem solving and trend analysis reporting.

Establish a quality repository of historic lane volume, cost and load productivity data.

Assist Manager Consolidation and Logistics with freight analysis templates and data to review channel selection and planning of capacity for new locations, retail events/ads and regular business.

Improve logistics processes through strategic thinking, process improvement, prioritization and planning.

Develop and maintain relevant reports and applications such as carrier scorecards and Freight Cost of Goods reports.

Perform data management through a combination of data mining, data modeling, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis while executing day to day processes related to area of responsibility.

Assist in the development of business cases, ad-hoc queries and reporting from a variety of resources specific to the department’s needs.

Liaise with carriers, vendors and stores for ongoing operational issues, and where possible recommend/develop solutions that align with corporate objectives.

Support weekly reporting of financial and operational metrics.

Support development and variance analyses for transportation budgeting.

Manage order payments via PO receive and requisition.

Assist in overseeing and training newly hired intern staff within the transportation department.

Experience / Knowledge Required: Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M, Meets Expectations and Consistently Demonstrates).

Ability to effectively communicate with others from varied backgrounds and skill levels.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, effective presentation skills.

Ability to work within a team environment.

Detail and task oriented, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Strong time management skills.

Education Required: Degree in Engineering or logistics related field preferred.

Highly proficient with computer software such as Excel, Access Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Experience with SAP, Manhattan TMS, and WMS an asset.
