Membership and Donor Relations Manager

Canadian Parents for French Association

This is a Full-time position in Ottawa, ON posted June 15, 2019.

Language has the amazing ability to teach us new things, open our minds, and engage a rich and diverse intellectual history. When people learn a new language, they expand more than just their vocabulary: they gain new ways of thinking and seeing the world. For over 40 years, CPF (https://cpf.ca/) has been ensuring that that all learners have the opportunity, support and motivation to learn and use French. We have over 25,000 members, and offices in every province. We believe the ability to communicate in more than one language fosters creative, empathetic and adaptive people who access far-reaching opportunities and enhance the social and economic prosperity of our country. Canada has an enviable capacity to ensure that upcoming generations develop this ability in both official languages. That’s why our organization works with government across Canada to support French language learning. Now we’re looking to add a new member to our management team: someone who will build rapport with members and donors and convert that into quantifiable success for our organization. That’s where you come inAs our new Membership and Donor Relations Manager, you’ll lead a variety of strategies and initiatives aimed at increasing both membership volume and donor contributions. Using your experience in the non-profit sector, as well effective research/data analysis skills, your contributions will have a direct impact on our success. You’ll also manage a team of volunteers who will collect potential member/donor contacts at various functions and events.Your first priority will be to research and understand the needs of our membership while coordinating with other branches of CPF. Using a variety of tools—everything from surveys to polls and focus groups—you’ll determine what is and isn’t working for our membership. After analyzing the results, you’ll present our directors with relevant options to address new and ongoing issues, and work on strategic initiatives with multiple branches. Whether tactics aim to increase membership satisfaction by changing benefits, or introduce marketing campaigns to generate interest, you will transform quality research into quantifiable financial goals. When you’re not busy with membership, you’ll oversee the donor relations process: drafting a stewardship plan, making sure that donors are acknowledged, and developing new donor opportunities. Usually, working with donors involves monitoring and using the donor database effectively: keeping track of opportunities to expand current contributions, and following leads to find new opportunities. Here are some other things you’ll be working on from day-to-day:* Design programs/events/training for members and find ways to encourage/promote participation* Generate awareness of membership tools and resources* Lead monthly meetings with our National office that share progress reports* Perform annual membership audit* Coordinate/train/support volunteers* Be a resource for other employees in terms of database tools/capabilities* Integrate membership/donor strategies with digital platforms, including email/phone/marketing* Keep the database clean and effective; ensure accuracy, as well as accessibilityHere are a few goals you’ll be working towards in your first year:* Raise the membership retention rate from our current standard of 30% to 40%* Adding around 1000 regular members* Generate new revenue, between 15-20%If you’ve got non-profit experience, and some skill with technology, this is your chance to make a big difference.Working with CPF This is a full-time, 1-year contract position with annual opportunities for renewal.
